Like most lessons this one definitely stems from my real life experience - last night's derby practice to be precise. I won't go into names/excrutiating detail about the incident, partially because my car has never pulled of the eggshells and yolk look very well, and partially because I'm a passive agressive asshole who communicates best through sarcasm. Result: The Following List of Practice Etiquette.
1) Don't skip practice for two months straight.
*Please note, my definition of skipping is no-call, no-show, no-good-reason.
2) Don't show up late to practice, especially after said skipping spree.
3) Don't show up late to practice, interrupt the coach in the middle of her explaining a drill to the players who were on time, and expect an answer consisting of more than two-three words i.e. "Not Right Now" or "I Don't Know"
4) When the coach gives you an answer you weren't expecting, don't stomp off.
5) If you broke rule #4, whatever you do, NEVER, EVER, yell obscenitites at said coach as you walk out the door for the entire team to hear. I've heard players who break rule #5 will be banned from practice until they issue an apology to the team for interrupting practice and bringing a negative attitude to the derby space.
****BONUS RULE****
6) Don't be a derby drama whore period - especially if you're a male referee who doesn't pay practice space dues.
What are some practice etiquette rules you'd like to see inacted in your league?
